So I do a lot of comedy shows but I’m so enjoying becoming The Social Media Comedian.. If you want a crash course in social media I’ll break it down for you… (from my Keynote speech)
Social media is a social event online. The same rules apply whether you’re networking on Facebook or at a conference meet and greet.. You wouldn’t walk up to someone you never met before and scream You need a new car! look me up I’ll hook you up! Or a funeral… Sorry about your loss, you know what may feel better? a new car! look me up I’ll hook you up! That would be breaking every social rule in the book..
80% of what you do on twitter or Facebook has to be something other than self promotion.. If you spend time building relationships people will listen when you do promote something, they’ll listen because people want to do business with people they know and trust. So I repeat, you have to build relationships and trust before you promote, doing otherwise, you might as well go door to door selling no soliciting signs and NO ONE in their right mind would go door to door selling no soliciting signs..

911 to the Telemarketer

So I’ve done everything there is to be done to a telemarketer, I convinced one guy that he called a murder scene and that I was a homicide detective and he was a suspect and anything else you can imagine..

I’m always trying to figure out what’s going to be the next fun bit, and I’ve been pretty good at coming up with some really unique things.. But I almost missed the boat on this one, not only did it almost didn’t make the new CD due out this fall I almost didn’t even show it to anyone.

I didn’t think it was that original nor that funny but while going thru a bunch of calls that I’ve been collecting for the past 12 years or so I found this and thought what the hell, I’ll throw it up on the web (YouTube) and do a bubba focus group, see what people thought of it, who know’s maybe it was good enough to be used as a filler bit on the new CD?

The first hour or two it got a few hundred views and some positive feedback, I checked it the following moring and it had 50,000 views, checked it a few hours later 106,000 views, checked it a few minutes ago right at 300,000 views!
Here’s the deal, every time I see out of area or unknown caller on my caller ID I answer the phone 911 and just run with it.. Here’s the first 911 call I did, I’ve several now and they’ll be on my new CD this fall so you guys at ZUG are getting a sneak peek…

Great movie, I watched it by myself because my family are either too cool, busy or just kids… who knows? Was nice to see a good movie and not be interrupted.. Speaking of family, this is now my new outgoing message on our home voicemail

You know, I’ve used comedy to try conquer things like telemarketers, junk email, high gas prices and now racism.. This has gotten a lot of positive feedback from the gay community but a lot of backlash from anti gay groups. Westboro Church folks. I hope you enjoy it and it makes sense to you all!

Power outage season. buy $2 solar landscape lights, place them inside your and your folks home. lights go out, they come on!

As you’ve seen I’m sure, tornado warnings are all over the midwest and south. We had a power outage the other night and no flashlight! I ran outside and grabbed the solar landscape lights and laid them all around the house..

My sister called me the other day saying she’s looking at the personal ads but had a hard time getting to know someone in 10 words or less. She doesn’t have a computer so Match.com is not an option, so she looks at our local paper for love. I told her I had a pretty keen sense for deciphering what people are trying to say so read me a couple and I’ll translate it for her.

OK, she said.

SWM, Shepardsville, KY. Loves long walks and candle lit dinners.

Translation: “I don’t have a car, they cut my electric.”

SWM, Louisville, KY. Loves animals and the outdoors.

Translation: “I’m homeless, I got a dog.”

Yes, it’s a gift I know. My entire life I have misread things and suffered from it. Don’t know if it’s the ADHD or dyslexia or what but I have really embarrassed myself at times. The old saying Another Day That Ends With Y, I thought was “Another day that ends with WHY” which actually turned into a country song and documentary about Nashville songwriters due out this summer.

Nevertheless, I decided to video tape my first fishing tournament last year, you never know what you might catch on video so I do this often.

So I registered for the Bass Tournament at Taylorsville Lake in Kentucky. Packed up my rig and boat and once again my keen sense of translation screwed me.

Next thing I know I’m reading about how this idiot ruins a fishing tournament on someone’s fishing forum! I was just blown away that they were talking about me so I thought I would share my first ever Bass fishing tournament with you guys at ZUG.com

I truly apologize to any of you fishing folk out there who take offense to this, I really didn’t mean any harm.
